Legionella risk assessment and testing

Ashdale Engineering is fully equipped to conduct a thorough Legionella risk assessment of your property assets.

We issue a Legionella Risk Assessment report detailing all potential hazardous areas and the recommended risk control measures. Our work is carried out strictly under the code of conduct as set out by the Legionella Control Association (LCA).

To minimise the likelihood of an outbreak, we carry out a detailed building water supply survey and risk assessment. Potential Legionella breeding areas, and conditions where human contact with the bacteria could occur, are identified and appropriate risk reduction measures recommended.

Points to consider

Legionella is a naturally occurring bacterium found in water. If present in high concentrations it can be lethal to humans, who will be at risk of developing Legionnaires Disease.

The disease is contracted through inhaling an aerosol of water containing the bacteria, for example in a shower room or from faulty air conditioning. In over 10% of cases, this is fatal and it leaves most survivors with debilitating conditions which can remain permanently.

Many domestic water systems are quite safe but many larger, older buildings contain potential trouble spots, where Legionella can multiply to a hazardous level. This can be caused by a range of factors, including water temperature and pipework design.
